KBA 2020-21 Registration and Key Dates

KBA registration message and key dates

UpdatedThursday August 6, 2020 byKBA Board.

We understand there is a lot of uncertainty right now surrounding both return to education and return to play in the state of Ohio.  The KBA board is working closely with the Kings Local School District and monitoring directives from both the Governor’s Office and the Warren County Health Department.   Our goal is to provide the safest environment possible for our kids to learn, compete and have fun with the game of basketball.

With that said, while no decision has been made as of this email, to allow competition to begin in contact sports, we do want to begin our registration process for our winter season.  Registration will open today at kbahoops.org with no payment being required at time of registration.   All children will be placed on a “Wait List”.   It is imperative that you register your child as the board needs to get an idea of the number of players for the upcoming season.

Registration costs for the 2020-2021 season will be a minimum of $150.00.   This is in line with past registration fees.  There is a slight chance that fees could rise above $150.00 based on specific costs associated with Covid-19 safety measures, custodial requirements, and gym rentals but the board will work to minimize any increases. Any payment increase and reasons associated will be communicated prior to payment being due.

Prior to your child’s first assessment date, we will ask families to complete their registration and pay in full for the 2020-21 season.   Payment must be received prior to your child participating in assessments.   Failure to pay will result in your child not being able to participate in assessments to make a competitive team in grades 4th-6th grade.

Below we have outlined dates for the upcoming season.  In our current environment, nothing is “set in stone” and will be subject to change.   Our goal will be to communicate, in September, to our families once we have a clearer picture of the building availability and guidelines for contact sports from the ODH for mandatory assessments, tryouts, and recreation team drafts that will take place in the month of October, which could include some Sundays.

·       August  - Registration Opens (waitlist status) at www.KBAHoops.org

·       September 25th - Registration Officially Closes

·       October -  Assessments, Competitive Team Tryouts, and Rec Draft and Placements

·       Week of October 28th - Pre-Season Coaches Meeting

·       November 2nd - Practices Begin

·       November 6-8 - CPYBL Pre-Season Tournament (rec/competitive teams)

·       November 13-15 - Girls Pre-Season Tournament (competitive teams only)

·       November 20-22 - Boys Pre-Season Tournament (competitive teams only)

·       December - Regular season starts

·       No Games Played over Winter Break

·       Last Weekend of February  - End of Season Tournament

·       Week of March 9th  - Post-Season Coaches Meeting

Finally, regarding any potential refunds of registration fees for a canceled season, the KBA board will determine the appropriate amount, which may not be in full, due to start-up costs associated with a season including uniform orders.   We hope to minimize this with the delayed payment format outlined above.

Please let us know if you have any questions.  We are looking forward to another great basketball season this winter!
